What are some of the benefits of planting trees?

Aside from the benefits planting trees has on our environment, planting trees in the right places can actually save you money. Trees in the right spots around the house help cool a house during the summer. A well maintained landscape with mature trees can also increase your property value by up to 25%.

Are organic fertilizers better than synthetic fertilizers?

Organic fertilizers are slightly better than synthetic fertilizers, but plants can’t really tell a difference. According to chemists, plants can’t tell the difference between a naturally derived fertilizer and one that was produced synthetically in a lab, as long as it delivers the right amount of nutrients. To a plant’s roots, nitrogen is nitrogen, no matter how it was produced. However, organic fertilizers do release nutrients more slowly into the ground, which reduces the chance of over fertilizing your plants. They also improve the structure of the soil.

If my vegetables are small, does that mean they aren’t as good?

Bigger vegetables only look better. Generally speaking smaller vegetables are more tender and taste better.

What is bamboo and why should I plant it?

Bamboo is the largest type of grass in the world. Its stalks are usually round and have periodic joints. The stalks can be solid or hollow, thorny or smooth and some even bare fruit.  Bamboo not only looks great in a garden, it is also really good for our environment. It is also very strong, so it can be used to build all types of things, such as window blinds, paint brushes, cutting boards, etc.
